Korjaus viestiin: Jännettä ei tarvitse välttämättä twistata lainkaan, jos jänteen keskus on punossuojattu.
“You can indeed twist a bowstring to shorten it. On a properly made bowstring, all serving will be anchored thru the skein, and all serving will spiral in the same direction. You want to twist THATAWAY!
However: since the string is made of many threads, twisting tends to stress the outer strands more than the inner ones. This is particularly true of thicker strings. If you twist the string too much, you’ll overstress the outer fibers before the inner ones, and something’s gonna break. How many turns you can go mostly depends on how forgiving your fiber is, and how thick the strand, but once one strand is gone, your string is ruined. Sooner or later, it will break suddenly, without warning. So yeah, you can give it a few turns to shorten, but not too many. Maybe you could borrow a fencing mask to test your bow with, after you twist? Good luck: Geezer.”
